AUMOVIO has launched a new distributed brake system based on brake-by-wire technology, featuring dual active actuators designed to improve braking performance, efficiency and vehicle packaging. By removing the traditional hydraulic connection between pedal and brakes, the system allows greater flexibility in vehicle architecture and supports the wider shift towards software-defined and electrified platforms.

The dual-actuator layout is intended to provide redundancy and more precise control of braking force at each wheel, which could benefit stability and energy recovery in electric vehicles. As brake-by-wire systems move closer to series production, this represents a significant shift from conventional hydraulic architectures that have long dominated the aftermarket.

For brake and aftermarket professionals, the emergence of distributed brake-by-wire systems signals a longer-term change in component design, diagnostics and servicing requirements. Importers and distributors should monitor how such technologies progress towards adoption by vehicle manufacturers, as they may eventually require new approaches to parts sourcing, testing and technician training.
