BMW M5 CS

This is the new BMW M5 CS, the ultimate variant of BMW’s M5 sport sedan. The CS is based on the M5 Competition, which was previously the fastest-M5. No more. Visually, it comes with exclusive colors, a new body kit, gold-bronze alloys and grille, and lots of carbon fiber bits. The M5 CS is the most Autobahn crushing car BMW has ever made. It also has the most powerful engine BMW has ever produced, in any road car, including the BMW-built V12 for the McLaren F1.

The BMW M5 CS is powered by a heavily reworked variant of the BMW 4.4 liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine. The manic motor has been tunes up to 635 hp and 750 Nm pt torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed ‘Steptronic M’ automatic gearbox which transfers output to a rear-biased four-wheel drive system.

To add lightness, the BMW M5 CS is fitted with carbon fiber reinforced plastic components including the hood, roof, front splitter, mirror caps, diffuser and rear spoiler. BMW also deleted the rear bench in favor of two separate sport seats. Yes, the M5 CS is a four-seater, so choose your friends wisely! Note the map of the Nürburgring race track on the headrests. The total weight savings are a decent 104 kilo compared to the BMW M5 Competition. More power and less weight makes for more speed: the BMW M5 CS hits the hundred in 3.0 seconds, the 200 in 10.3 seconds and it has an unlimited top speed of 305 kilometers per hour.

The M5 CS stands on Pirelli P-Zero Corsa tires with 20-inch M forged wheels. Inside the wheel, it has M-branded  carbon ceramic brakes with ventilated brake discs and red brake calipers. The brake discs are huge. The front brake discs have a diameter of 400 mm and a width of 38 mm, with a 6-piston fixed brake caliper. At the rear, the brake discs have a diameter of 396 mm and a width of 26 mm, with a one-piston floating caliper.

The BMW M5 CS will only be made for one model year, so it will become a colelctors item soon. Especially because it will likely remain the most powerful petrol-engine M5 forever. But not the most powerful M5. The next generation BMW M5 will for the first time feature a PHEV drive train, with an expected base output of 700 hp. The Autobahn better be aware…
