Mercedes-Benz markets their first new electric EQ car by 2019

With a range of up to 500 kilometers and the typical Mercedes strengths such as safety, comfort, functionality and connectivity, the Mercedes EQ is the forerunner of a new era. Mercedes-Benz Cars aims to have over ten all-electric vehicles in its portfolio by 2025.

Toyota Recalls Highlander SUVs Over Brake Fluid Warning Light

Toyota will be conducting a safety recall of 7,100 model year 2016 Highlander units in the US due to a brake fluid reservoir sensor issue.
The vehicle would fail federal safety standards which require a warning light for when there is a drop in brake fluid levels. If a driver can’t be notified about a drop in brake fluid levels, it could increase the risk of a crash.

RDW evaluates: “Is Tesla’s term Autopilot misleading?”

The Dutch RDW that approved electric carmaker Tesla’s “Autopilot” driver assistance system for use throughout Europe said Monday it is considering what action to take, if any, on the name after several German organizations said it could be misleading. On Sunday, Germany’s Transport Minister asked Tesla to stop advertising its electric vehicles as having an Autopilot function as this might suggest drivers’ attention is not needed.

Honda recalls 350K Civics for brake defect

Our beloved reliable Japanese Honda has to recall 350 Civics for parking brake issues. The defect can be fixed with a software update. The recall covers Civics with both the 1.5-liter turbo and 2-liter engines. The electric parking brake may not engage when the engine is turned off, leading to the possibility that the car could roll away and crash.

BMW introduces their 5 series plug-in hybrid

BMW has made a small step presenting a plug-in hybrid last Wednesday.
The BMW eDrive plug-in hybrid drive is enabled to run purely electrical, locally emission-free short-range driving and has a dynamic driving performance 4-cylinder petrol engine for long-distance capabilities.

McKinsey & Co: Cars electric in cities by 2030

Today, a small number of cities, such as Amsterdam, Singapore, and Stockholm, are singled out as having effective mobility. With varying degrees of emphasis, they have efficient public transit, encourage cycling and walking, and have managed to limit congestion and pollution. McKinsey predicts modern cities will be dominated by electric cars in 2030.

Porsche Mission E charger compatible with Tesla

Porsche has confirmed that its Mission E charging infrastructure will work with Tesla vehicles. The ultra-fast, 800-volt charging system will recharge the Mission E to 80% in about 15 minutes, and will also service new electric vehicles from Volkswagen and Audi.

Investigation into Ford-150 pickup truck brakes

25 consumer complaints about the Ford F-150 pickup trucks include claims of “a sudden and complete loss of brakes,”. The vehicles affected are the 2015 and 2016 model year F-150s that have 3.5-liter engines. The F-150 is the best-selling vehicle in North America.
